Niamh McCarthy, founder of Niamh Designs, was recently invited onto The John Toal Show on BBC Radio Ulster to share the story behind her business and her creative journey from Co Armagh to the international stage.

John and his team gave Niamh a warm welcome, making the live radio experience both relaxed and enjoyable. Their conversation covered how Niamh first began her embroidery journey, the creation of Niamh Designs, and some of the exciting projects that have brought her work international recognition.

During the interview, Niamh reflected on the purpose behind her designs, explaining that embroidery is more than just decoration – it’s storytelling. From bridal jackets embroidered with personal details to high-profile commissions such as the ’Thriller’ jackets created for the Heal LA Foundation, every piece is designed to capture meaning and memory. Sharing this with John and his listeners was a special opportunity to showcase the heart of her work.
